A Night of Hope for Jessica

On August 2nd 2009, Jessica was driving to church when her car was struck by a speeding driver. When Jessica’s family arrived at the hospital they were told that Jessica had suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury and was in a coma. Later that evening they were called into the room to say goodbye to their only daughter/sister.

Jessica instead, progressed physically and surprised everyone by fighting for her life, but continued to remain in a vegetative /semi-conscious state. With Doctors giving very little hope in waking Jessica, her family took her home praying for a miracle.

Please Help Little Angelina in Her Fight Against Cancer

On August 18, 2011, at age 2 ½, Angelina Sforza, the niece of teacher Dario Sforza, was diagnosed with malignant neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer.  Since that date, Angelina has undergone numerous hospital stays, chemotherapy, and most recently, surgery to remove the tumor.  The Sforza Family is asking for your support.  In partnership with Go4theGoal Foundation, they are holding a Dinner Dance Fundraiser on Friday, February 24th at the Westmount Country Club.   All funds raised that evening will be used to provide supportive services to children with cancer and their families with the goal to provide a sense of "normalcy" in their lives while they "Go4theGoal" of being healthy again soon.

For more details about Little Angelina’s progress, how you can help, and the Fundraising Dinner Dance on Friday evening, February 24, 2012 at the Westmount County Club, please click below.

We believe the most effective way to address the problem of abandoned animals is to raise public awareness of responsible pet ownership.

Senior Citizen Newsletter

Welcome New Year 2012! With the holidays behind us, it’s back to business as usual here at the Senior Center. But before we get started with the New Year, let’s take a quick look back… Do you remember the vegetable truck … how about the meat truck, and the bread truck… the milk man, ice delivery man and the knife sharpener cart, and screen repair. Oh! Too far back!  In addition to our usual events of summer concerts in the park, holiday luncheons and breakfasts, in 2011, seniors also enjoyed a Spring Fling dinner dance at the High School, an environmental boat ride on the Hackensack River, the Musical White Christmas at the Paper Mill Playhouse, Psychic Fairs, a barbeque in the park and so much more!  We’ve also held Health Fairs, offered flu and pneumonia shots, blood and other health screenings.

January 2012 Midterm Report

As 2011 comes to a close and we begin the second half of our first term in office, this administration is proud to bring its mid-term report to the forefront. When we took office in January 2010, our first goal was to bring the community back together and begin to correct some of the mistakes that were made in the past. One of the first things we did was eliminate political retaliation against employees.  Not one employee has lost his or her job since we took office.  We have made it a priority to have an open door policy where employees and residents are welcome to stop by with questions or concerns. One way to make this possible was to go from part-time status to a full-time mayor.
