The Recreation Department provides a wide range of programs for every age group to respond to the range of interests expressed by the town’s
residents. Programs are added or discontinued from time to time as residents’ interests and leisure activity preferences change.
Fall: Cheerleading, Football, and Soccer
Winter: Boys’ Basketball, Figure Skating, Girls’ Basketball, Gymnastics, Hockey, Men’s Basketball, and Wrestling
Spring: American Legion Baseball, Girls’ Softball, Koufax Baseball, Men’s Softball, Spring Soccer, and Women’s Softball
Summer: Arts & Crafts, Basketball Camp, Bocce Ball, Boys’ Basketball, Day Care Camp (4-6 year olds), Girls’ Basketball, Girls’ Softball
(K- 2nd Grade), Junior Police Academy, Pee Wee Baseball, Performing Arts, Skateboard Clinic, Special Needs Children’s Camp, Summer Day Camp
(7-12 year olds), Swim Team, T-Ball, and Tennis.
Registration for all programs takes place at the Recreation Center at 1200 Koelle Blvd.
There are over 20 parks located in Secaucus.
There are a number of fields used for town recreation, including the Little League Field, Mill Ridge Road Field. Both Shetik Field on County
Avenue and Kane Stadium have been renovated and now have synthetic turf.
Permits for baseball, softball, and soccer fields are available on a first come, first serve basis. Permits for the use of Schmitt’s Woods are
issued on an “as available” basis, for a fee, to local residents only.
The town’s Ice Rink on Plaza Center Road provides skating opportunities during open sessions, rentals, and for hockey leagues. The rink is typically
open from Dec-Feb, weather permitting. The rink is also used for other activities in the off-season.
The main Recreation Center is located on 1200 Koelle Boulevard. It is open year round offers various memberships, including monthly, yearly,
non-residential worker in Secaucus, fitness class passes, and daily. This building also houses a walking track and basketball gym, which is
used for both town and travel teams and camps.
The gym is open to rentals for both private parties and teams, like the Middle School basketball teams. There are scheduled fitness classes available,
including yoga and spin, which take place in their multi-purpose room. The fitness room is fully equipped with cardio and weight training machines, as well
as free weights. An additional Recreation Center is located at 123 Centre Avenue.
The Recreation Center has an indoor swim center, used for open swimming, swim lessons, diving lessons, senior water aerobics, club swim teams,
the Secaucus High School Swim Team, and other classes, like Mommy & Me. The Secaucus Municipal Swim Center offers season family and individual
registrations to residents and sponsored non-residents, as well as weekend registrations and daily passes for residents. The Swim Center has a
diving pool, a Senior/training pool, a kiddie pool, and an Olympic size pool complete with a water slide. The complex is open weekends from
Memorial Day until schools close and then daily until 8pm through Labor Day. The Swim Center offers swim lessons and hosts birthday
parties and local camps, in addition to supporting the Secaucus Sea Hawks Swim Team.
The pool is open to rentals for both private parties and teams, like the High School Swim Team.
A popular activity that draws both young and old to the band shell in Buchmuller Park is the Summer Concert Series presented by the Mayor and
Council and sponsored by various local businesses and corporations. The concerts, featuring bands with varied styles and local talent, are
held on seven consecutive Thursdays, beginning at 7pm.
For a fee, the Town of Secaucus provides an after-school Aftercare Program for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The program runs
from school dismissal until 6pm. Registration for this program is held in May for the coming school year and follows the Secaucus School
